Cross-sell products
Cross-sell lets several sellers offer the same product, each with their own price, SKU and inventory. One seller creates and owns the product listing; other sellers add their own variants to it.
This is how you run a marketplace where the same item is genuinely available from competing sellers, rather than appearing as a dozen near-duplicate listings.
Cross-sell is about who can sell a listing. If you're looking for "customers also bought" suggestions on a product page, see Product recommendations instead.
What each seller keeps
When a seller adds their variant to another seller's product:
- They set their own pricing and SKUs.
- They manage their own inventory, separately from the product owner's.
- Orders for their variants come to them, not to the product owner.
- Prices and stock are private. The product owner and the other sellers on the listing cannot see them.
Turn cross-sell on
Cross-sell has two switches: one for the marketplace, one per product. Both must be on.
1. Enable it for the marketplace
Cross-sell is part of the marketplace configuration, and it depends on how your marketplace handles variant uniqueness.
Cross-sell requires variant uniqueness to be set to unique per seller. A marketplace that requires variants to be unique across the whole marketplace cannot have two sellers offering variants of the same product — the two settings are contradictory, so cross-sell cannot be enabled until uniqueness is changed.
Enabling cross-sell for the marketplace is done in your marketplace configuration. Speak to your Traide representative if the option isn't available to you.
Once enabled, a Cross-sell entry appears in the dashboard's Catalog menu for anyone with the Manage products permission.
2. Opt an individual product in
Enabling the feature does not open your whole catalog. Each product is opted in by its owner:
- Open the product and go to its Details page.
- In the Visibility section, turn on Allow other sellers to cross-sell this product.
- Save.
Only the product's owner — or a marketplace operator — sees this switch.
Leave it off and the product behaves exactly as it always has: one seller, one set of variants.
Add your variant to another seller's product
As a seller, once a product has been opted in:
- In the dashboard, navigate to Catalog -> Cross-sell.
- Pick the seller whose catalog you want to sell from.
- Select the product you want to offer.
- Select Create Your Variant.
- Set your own price, SKU and inventory for that variant.
The product page then shows Your Variants, listing what you offer on that product. A marketplace operator viewing the same page sees every seller's variants instead, which is the view to use when you need the whole picture for a listing.
Practical notes
- Product content stays with the owner. The name, description, images and attributes belong to the seller who created the product. Your variant carries your commercial terms, not your own copy.
- Stock is genuinely separate. Your variant selling out does not affect anyone else's availability on the same product, and theirs does not affect yours.
- Turning the switch off later stops new variants being added. Talk to your Traide representative before withdrawing a product that other sellers are actively selling on.
