What's New at Traide
Sell license keys, codes and gift cards
Your sellers can now sell secret credentials alongside their physical and downloadable products: software license keys, redeemable codes, and gift cards. Every unit sold is its own secret with its own ownership record, so a buyer of three licenses owns three separately tracked keys.
- Keys live in pools on the variant. A seller uploads their own list of keys or lets Traide generate codes. Stock and the key pool are separate gates, and the tighter one wins.
- No key is sold twice. A key is held for the buyer during checkout, and goes back to the pool if the order is canceled or its payment never completes.
- Buyers reveal their key when they want it, rather than receiving it by email, and the first reveal is recorded.
- Revealed keys don't refund silently. A refund covering a key the buyer has already seen is refused unless you explicitly override it. An unrevealed key refunds normally, and its ownership is revoked.
- Gift cards are sold, not redeemed, here. A sold gift-card code can't yet be spent at your marketplace's own checkout, so word those listings to say what the code is for.
- Sellers can check a key from their own software through a public verification API.
These product kinds are off until you switch them on for your marketplace, through the API. Key pools are managed through the API today, and the storefront page where buyers reveal their keys is rolling out.
