Digital products: instant downloads and buyer entitlements

Your marketplace can sell downloadable goods — ebooks, templates, audio, software — alongside physical products, from any of your sellers. Digital sales flow through the same seller suborders, commissions and payouts as physical ones. What changes is delivery.

  • Automatic delivery on payment. With automatic fulfillment on, a paid digital line issues a secure download link and emails it to the buyer immediately — no manual fulfillment step.
  • Download caps and expiry. Set how many times a link can be used and how long it stays valid, as a marketplace default or per variant.
  • A real entitlement, not just a link. Each purchase grants the buyer an entitlement, which is what actually gates access. Redemptions are recorded against it.
  • Refunds revoke access. Refunding a digital line revokes the entitlement and the download stops working, instead of the buyer keeping the file and the money.
  • Re-issue a link. If a buyer loses their email or burns their downloads, you can re-issue the link from the order rather than refunding and re-selling.
  • Delivery you can see. Each digital line shows its status and a downloads used count — the number that separates "it never arrived" from "downloaded and lost".

Because the digital/physical distinction lives on the variant, one product can offer both — an ebook download and a paperback under the same product.
