Up until now, products had to be created with a product template. Now, operators can choose whether to make them optional with the new "Require product templates" marketplace configuration setting.

If you want to keep operating as-is, no action is required. Product templates will continue to be required unless you turn this setting off.

When product templates are optional, you can create products directly without first creating the product template. This offers more flexibility in setting up products in your catalog.

For example, a marketplace for handmade crafts might make product templates optional to accommodate the unique and varied nature of its products.
